Game Developers Conference 2007: Crysis HD Trailer
By Slimy, 15 April 2007 - 04:35 20 comments
CryTek, the makers of the popular Far Cry, are putting together another First Person Shooter that will undoubtedly quickly become a game benchmarking standard. It will run off CryENGINE 2 technology and will of course use the advanced DirectX 10 architecture, easily making it one of the most anticipated games of this year (TBA: 2007). No, I'm not hear to tell you I have a copy, although that would be nice. A High Definition trailer has arrived for everyone to feast their eyes on. It's so breathtaking that many rigs can't even play the video, not to mention the game.

My PC must be good then, i could upscale the video to my display resolution without any issues, and the 3d cube that is my desktop was still as smooth as ever. :cheeky:
Single most interesting thing in that video for me though, was the editor, that's just plain cool.

Looks good and I like that menu you use to change the components on your gun (youtube videos), but I hope the enemy also will have some super powers also. Reminds me of Jedi Knight 2 and Advent Rising, when you got your powers the game became a walk in the park. Jedi Knight was ok because it had enemies with lightsabers and jedi powers but Advent Rising was just numbers of hopeless enemies.
Multiplayer should be crazy.

Whoa, for a minute there I felt like I had gone back in time. IMO the way that article was written you'd think Crysis had just been announced. :P
Still love the video though. That nuke in the ending is awesome!

i hope you mean "here" :P
and i think playing this video and playing the game in real-time is two different worlds:P because the game video is showcasing dx10, and i don't even have a dx10 card.
all in all, crysis is still looking jaw dropping, cant wait:)

There is nothing in that video that requires DX10 or Vista. Every graphical effect they showed is already in STALKER and many are in Armed Assault. Both are DX9 games.
Realtime global illumination
Depth of field
Motion blur
Day-night cycles
HDR
It is going to require a powerful graphics card though. Or two. As well as a dual-core CPU for the physics and streaming terrain.

i'm not really sure, but i don't think directx 9 games like stalker and armed assault support all those breakable stuff. like that building that got trampled by that tank, those trees and shooting off the wheels on that car...
maybe there will be a directx 9 version but those exclusive effects in directx 10 (i think) bring the game into another level of immersion, at least for me.
