Tunisia takes part in FAO 36th conference
TUISIAONLINENEWS- A Tunisian delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Mr. Abdessalem Mansour takes part in the 36th Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Conference which is taking place from November 18 to 21, 2009 in Rome.

In his address, the minister stressed FAO’s role in promoting agricultural sector and the fight against hunger and lack of food security in the world, reviewing the achievements of the Tunisian agriculture at all levels.
Meeting with Mr. Jacques Diouf, Director-General of FAO, and components of bilateral cooperation, Mr. Mansour, has discussed the signing of an agreement protocol signed on August 3, 1996 between Tunisia and FAO related to the establishment of a sub-regional office of the UN organization for North Africa.
On the fringes of the conference, Mr. Mansour has participated in the four roundtables, during which he reviewed the Tunisian experience in the fight against the negative impacts of climate change on agriculture, and stressed the support for small farmers to promote production and improve their revenue with a view to strengthen the country’s food security.
The Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources also held bilateral talks with a number of his counterparts countries focused specifically on different aspects of cooperation between Tunisia and these countries.
