Andre Agassi in clear over drug use

ANDRE Agassi's startling drug confessions will go unpunished.
ATP World Tour executive chairman Adam Helfant yesterday confirmed Agassi, 39, would not be pursued over revelations the former world No.1 took crystal meth in 1997.
Agassi made the disclosure in his autobiography, Open, attributing use of the substance to his waning form and marital problems with Brooke Shields.
After returning a positive urine test, Agassi wrote a letter to officials, claiming he unwittingly drank from a glass spiked with the drug.
His explanation, which Agassi said was littered with lies, was accepted.
Helfant said he had appointed "an outside law firm to go through the records of 1997 to make sure I know all the facts" relating the incident.
Agassi won five of his eight majors after taking the crystal meth.
Helfant said Agassi would not be investigated "because he is not an active player".
He said Agassi had telephoned him to discuss the issue.
"We had a very frank discussion," Helfant said.
"I obviously expressed disappointment."
