Ayuda Receives Holiday Gift From DCI Group
Ayuda would like to extend our deepest appreciation to DCI Group for a recent donation toward our holiday gift-giving project. DCI Group's contribution will help provide gifts this holiday season to the children we serve and the children of our adult clients that include victims of crimes such as domestic violence and human trafficking. The children we are dedicated to serving in the Washington, DC region will be delighted to receive the gifts the DCI Group's donation has helped purchase. In all of our work, Ayuda seeks to build community and promote the availability of comprehensive services for our families. This project allows us to show our dedication to children during this special time of year. DCI Group can be proud to have been a part of this important outreach effort. 20/20 Features Ayuda's Anti-Trafficking Work
The television show 20/20 recently aired a story about "Sarah," an Ayuda client who was brought to the United States and subjected to forced labor, abuse and rape. Ayuda helped Sarah escape and begin a life free from violence. To view the 20/20 story, click here. To read more about Sarah, click here.
Unfortunately, Sarah is not alone. An estimated 20,000 individuals are trafficked into the United States annually, according to the U.S. Department of State.
You can help Ayuda fight this form of modern-day slavery. Donate now or click here to take action.
Ayuda Celebrates 35 Years of Achieving Justice and Opportunity for New Americans
Ayuda was honored to have Bernie Williams of the New York Yankees and Teresa Rodriguez of Univision (see all pictures) help Ayuda celebrate and recognize our 35 years of work with immigrant communities.
The Governor of Virginia Tim Kaine also recognized Ayuda and our honorees.
At the Gala, Ayuda honored two local leaders for their commitment to justice for all immigrants: Carlos Castro, founder of Todos Supermarkets, and David Rohrer, Chief of Police for Fairfax County. Castro helped start the Ayuda Business Coalition, which was formed in 2007 by business leaders concerned about local government proposals impacting the civil rights and quality of life of Latinos in Virginia. Chief Rohrer was recognized for his dedication in promoting fairness and equality when dealing with immigrant communities in his jurisdiction.More . . .
