Puebla held a 4-2 lead over Cruz Azul at the end of the first half on Saturday and threatened to pull away in the first leg of their quarterfinal series.

However, Cruz Azul scored two goals in the second half as la Maquina left Estadio Cuauhtemoc with a 4-4 draw.

The game, as emotional as it was, needs to be forgotten soon.

"From now, we have to think about a new game that will begin next week," Cruz Azul standout Emanuel Villa told reporters after the match. "We did not win but we obtained a result that to me is deserving."

Puebla took a quick lead, scoring in the first minute, only to watch Cruz Azul come back and take a 2-1 lead. However, Puebla closed out the half with three unanswered goals and led 4-2 entering the second half.

Cruz Azul struggled with space as Puebla's defense did well to throw Cruz Azul off their rhythm.

"We did all we could," Villa said. "It was a game in which the space was cut down a lot and we couldn't play the football we would have liked. But we tried to play as best as we could."

Jaime Lozano scored twice in the second half to give the club the draw and ensure that all Cruz Azul need in the second leg is another draw to go through.

"Puebla played very well," Villa said. "We rescued a tie which given the way the game was going it's good for us."
