I'm quite happy with the Vodafone service dispite their at times shonky reception. $49 gets you $240 worth of credit to use over 1 calendar month. I've been using this for a couple of months now and I've barely used half of it.

Shop around mate, you'll soon find a gimmicky promo that'll sort of suit your needs.

Yeh i have the same cap with Yodafone and its cut my phone bill so massively! I find the reception i get with vodafone pretty good

Most phone carriers have caps now and that definitely the way to go.

Vodafone also have like Texter bundles where you get a heap of free sms included (like 200 on a 50 recharge) and they are valid for 2 months i think.

I don't know about other phone companies, but I know with Telstra prepaid you can buy text packs. I think you can get a $10, $20, and $50 one. I think the $20 one buys you 150 sms's and the $50 one buys 500 sms's. You have a month to use them though. It's made things a little cheaper for me because I usually only use my phone for text and the odd quick phone call.

Vodafone Live download content is included on their Prepay caps (however, not included on monthly billing).

Likewise a month on the Vodafone Caps, however, for pure SMS use, you'll score a whopping 920 x SMS from a $49 MaxiCap.

That's over 30 x SMS per day!

At a cost of around $1.60 per day, so a touch over 5 cents each... to anyone.

I agree with you on Telstra being shit house. I signed on a 24 month plan and it sucks! My bills are always so high, and cant be justified when I dont use my mobile that often. I'll be getting a vodaphone sim for sure once the contract is up!

i've never enjoyed a telco enough to actually endorse their product, but i can't sing enough praise about vodafone. i recharge with the $49 cap once a month and i've only once used it all up.

don't even use my landline any more.

Most certainly not!

Telstra = Crazy Johns (reseller)

What amuses me is Crazy John advertises themselves as having,

"Lowest Tesltra Prices... Guaranteed!"

How generous.

vodafone is great. although reception is a little shonky at times. all they need to do is bring out a $29 cap, they were the leaders in this whole capping system and they they are way behind. 3 looks good and so does optus, however they have lock in contracts. ORANGE TO ORANGE is cheap but then again, not many people are with them...

BEST PHONE EVA!! 2mp camera (with light, night mode and auto focus), bluetooth, MP3, radio...you name it! I always steered away from the K700 - that was a dog of a phone IMO.

K750 is a huge step forward to SonyEricsson. MP3 ringtones were a prob with the K700 due to the VF software - they fixed that with the later version, but the earlier ones had some setbacks. No such issues with the K750, though, MP3's play fine as music and ringtones.

Are there any of these prepaid cap deals that are less then $49 a month? Either way I'll probably go onto this Vodafone deal. Two friends of mine are on it and they say it's great.

I use to be on Optus prepaid. If I used my phone heaps, then I may reach around $30 a month. . . Then my brother convinces me to take a Telstra employee contract (He works for telstra). In one month my expenses jumped up to $85 a month, and now averages about $70.

Check this thread --> ITM: SE K750i

Rest assured, the K750i (Vodafone-branded or otherwise) has absolutely no restriction with where you source your ringtones.

Quite possibly the best phone available in Australia right now...

The single most important factor with a phone plan is the call rate. Liken it to the fuel economy of your car. it doesn't matter how big the tank is, or the minimum charge at the pump, but how much you guzzle when you take it for a run.

Optus Prepaid = 74 cents per minute

Vodafone "Talker" Prepay = 40 cents per minute ($30 recharge)

Vodafone "Talker" Prepay = 30 cents per minute ($50 recharge)

Consider you have two months to use it ($25 per month average) and the calls are less than half the price, you'd be way in front with Vodafone.

And that's before you get to the Caps.

Many people may be surprised to learn they wouldn't even need a Cap if they weren't being stung by their current service provider's call rates.

Well I lost my phone and so they gave me a new one FREE OF CHARGE which they subsequently CHARGED ME FOR.
Then they RESET my 24 month plan so then I had to start again! And to pay my way out of it is hella expensive...I'm going to save up and hopefully tell em to get fucked at the end of the year but it will have to depend...

I'm on Vodafone $79 cap. $500 credit, you can check how much you've used at anytime (unlike others that keep u in the dark till the bill comes) lot's of ppl are with voda so it's good to use the voda-to-voda chat time. (you get a set number of minutes with each recharge and it's 20c for the whole call- as long as those minutes allow) If you recharge before your final day of the month i believe the voda-minutes roll over (correct me if i'm wrong) Plus the vodafone 123 answers EVERY ridiculous question i have for them at ANY hour. And yes if you recharge at certain places you get 10% off. No contract on the cap, it's pre-paid, can't spend more than u have!

I should work for voda, i love that shit!

damn... i want one now... yeh the 700i had all those options aswell, but like u said, was a little glitchy. if they refined it, it should be unreal.

spectrum, yeh with the 700i, i have the vodafone branded one, it is definatley restriced with ringtones and SUCKS.

the DUKE, there are some under $49 like optus and 3 - they are 29$ talk caps, u get some $150 - $200, but unlike vodafone, they have lock in contracts however, they do give you something like $1000 worth of credit to start with for free- or pay something like the first 3 months. they all generally give you a month to use it aswell, and when you recharge, what ever you have remaining gets cleared..... which sucks!

Thanks Spectrum and spADS!

I'll probably give standard prepaid a try again, and if it reaches over $49 a month, I'll move over to Vodafone's cap.
