Synopsis
This work features over 120 paintings in full colour - from hot dusty street bazaars in Egypt to stormy windswept scenes of the Devon coastline. No-one can help being moved by the incredible atmosphere Trevor Chamberlain manages to portray in his paintings but, maybe even more impressive (from a painter's perspective) is the masterly way he achieves this with what seems like a minimum of detail and what some would consider ordinary and mundane subject matter. Who else could find sprout pickers in Bedfordshire or early-birds at a car-boot sale in Hertford appealing - but with the right light, the clever use of composition and subtle use of colour, this artist does, making every one of his paintings such a joy to look at and a lesson in simplicity and freshness. The book will be published to coincide with one of three major exhibitions being held by Trevor Chamberlain in London, Hertford and Nottingham in 2006. All the paintings and drawings are being published for the first time with many accompanied by anecdotal notes. This book will not only appeal to Trevor Chamberlain's existing army of collectors and followers but also to the many thousands of artists worldwide who struggle with the everyday problems of light, tone, composition and colour in their own works, things Trevor seems to portray so effortlessly in these outstanding paintings.
