      Product Description

      From Publishers Weekly

As in her previous book, Why Men Love Bitches, Argov does not use the word "bitch" in a pejorative way, but rather "to describe a strong woman who has her own identity and is secure with who she is." And while encouraging women to be strong, independent and inscrutable is sound advice, the motivation behind this advice-to keep his interest-makes for a headache-inspiring contradiction. Fortunately, Argov takes readers step-by-step through her process, including numerous "Relationship Principles" that keeps her concepts clear ("Relationship Principle 35: Men are intrigued by anything they do not completely control."). Though the generalizations Argov uses to describe her pre-bitch audience can at times be condescending, and her goals are more about acting-rather than believing-that you don't need a man to feel complete, the behavior she encourages is healthy and useful, even outside the realm of husband-hunting. Taken more as a Bitch's Guide to Life-the word "relationship," after all, doesn't necessarily imply romance-this is a solid self-help.

This is one of those books that you pick up and can't put down. It's got so much good info inside that it's hard to stop reading! Anyway, it's not about being a big, bad B so much as asserting yourself and not becoming someone's doormat. That's the message I got from this great book. I highly recommend it, along with How to Be Wanted: Use the Law of Attraction to Date the Man You Most Desire and Live the Life You Deserve.

5.0 out of 5 stars Food for Thought, for sure., Feb 24 2010
Why Men Marry Bitches and it's predecessor, Why Men Love Bitches were both cathartic reads for me. I was the textbook nice girl and suffered predictably in several relationships, because I gave and gave and gave, then whined about how I didn't get anything back and descended into miserable puddle of neediness and resentment.

As I went through the books and read each principal, it was like a light going on for me. I didn't agree with each and every one, (some of them grated pretty hard, in fact) but the message that I was worth something and that in order to be treated like that by a man (or anyone in general), I had to learn how to ACT like that. I took the advice to heart and started acting like it - it took a lot of practice, but I did it anyways.

Then a funny thing happened - It became natural. And what's interesting about the book is that it can be applied to more than just "men" and "marriage". Those principals work elsewhere. Want a male boss/friend/relative etc. to take you more seriously or treat you with more respect? You can apply several of the principals from this book to those situations as well. (I don't have the book on me at the moment, so I can't provide a list, but I assure you, with some thinking, you can figure out which ones they are on your own)

Before, when I picked up the first book, I had been looking for how to make an ex-boyfriend want me back "forever". By the end of the second one, I realized that I didn't need this ex-boyfriend. Heck, I realized that if I took the book's advice to heart and made myself happy, I wouldn't even need another boyfriend if it came down to it, let alone marriage. I ended up with another boyfriend, who treats me way better than the previous one - because he knows I'm not afraid to tell him to get lost, should I ever feel the need to. But hey, if I ever do want marriage, at least I'll have a nifty guide book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time!, Jan 4 2010
Ladies, don't waste your time! I didn't find this book helpful. The book is full of anecdotal cases and informal interviews. The author didn't get her "evidence" together enough to create a coherent argument. It seemed to me that she was trying so hard to convince herself that her book is worth reading that she got lost somewhere in her own translation. If you are a confident, independent woman (i.e. Sherry's "B" definition) why would you need a man to marry you to realize your self worth?!
