Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, Metro 2033, God of War 3, all games that have these very strong single player aspects to them, are really going to be looked upon as either industry changers, or just another plant in the crop.
Personally, i'm excited for what the rest of the year has to hold. It's very refreshing to see the return of the emphasis on story rather than just sort of telling the story and putting more emphasis on a multiplayer component.
Agreed.
no it was not that good need to focus on more interest topics
When people start saying singleplayer games are dying, tell them that.
Yeah it is great for someone like me who plays signleplayer games hardcore (been doing so since the atari 2600) and casually online. I could care less about modern rehash...
but just wait, these games now that just came out were being made right after last gen where story was king...now that devs got the taste of modern rehash2 money you will see nothing but at the holidays approch. Which is why I don't mind spending my loot now on: Heavy rain, Gow3, WKC, FF13, Bioshock2, Rennosance of Fate, Yakuza3, Dragon Age Awakening, 3d dot game heroes, Just cause 2, star ocean 4, bfbc2, etc....and yes I bought all those games (3d dot is paid for)
Rehashtivision is making 3 more rehash of dog duty games this year alone, plus medal of honor and socom 4 and reach are also in that mix so all holidy stuff is going to be multiplayer games that i frankly could care nothing about.
I only need one multiplayer shooter (bfbc2) but I need a million different single player experiences. the people who only rent the single player games instead of buying them will be hurting the industry for good narrative though. You know who you are - MR. I don't buy me single playa gamez cause there is
o pawnzin newbz and squatin on ma bros head lawz\n
Still, I like my strong 1-player experiences, with interesting narratives, as long as they are backed-up with great gameplay.
Online multi-player equals money for developers & publishers; that's why FPS & TPS sell in the west like crazy; the gamers in that region love shooter-style competition.
Fall-Winter shopping seasons of any given year will almost always see another batch of big-name 'shoot-reload-bomb-hijack-melee-repeat' military themed title. Oh, some of them might have interesting storylines, but many people who purchase them, would simply just tackle multi-player modes & nothing else.
