Web-browsing tools: Google new tab page and most visited websites

When you open a new tab, Google new tab page displays links to up to nine websites you visit most, nine recent browser and Google bookmarks, and three tabs closed within the past five minutes.

Enable or disable the Google new tab page

  1. Click Toolbar's wrench wrench icon.
  2. On the Search tab, select (or deselect) the 'Enable the Google new tab page' checkbox.
  3. Click Save.

Delete thumbnails from the Google new tab page

  1. On the Google new tab page, click the Edit thumbnails link.
  2. Click the X icon to remove a thumbnail.
  3. Click Done.

If you're unable to remove a thumbnail from the new tab page, try clearing your cache to reset the Google new tab page. For instructions, see this Help Center article.
