Linux Kernel is the essential part of Linux, responsible for resource allocation, low-level hardware interfaces, security, simple communications, and basic file system management.

cowgaR "tried on Windows Se7en RC1 b7100 - FAILED, even builds 7260 or 7264"
According to your last comments, it seems like you know that Linux is an OS and I assume you know the meaning of an OS. If so then why do you still insist to try repeatedly to run a Linux kernel in Windows? It's like buying a car tire and try to eat it as cereal for breakfast and claiming that one knows what cereal is.
You might think you know something technical. And it's OK and legitimate to try a Linux kernel and not liking it. But the way you proceeded shows that you don't know what you are talking about. I am sorry if this sounds offensive but your comment is totally absurd, there is no ground for any technical debate.

Wow...pot, kettle, black? You tried it on a buggy beta version of windows no less! There are so many things incorrect/wrong with that review I don't know where to start, so I will leave it as the poster is just trolling.

Linux has scattered around into different versions and harder code for app makers. Mac was based on Linux kernel long time ago according to Wikipedia.
Windows has same amount of viruses as programs that work on while Linux has few funds, few games , few programs but no need to think of Viruses,Intruders or fragmentation and registry problems.
For people who only surf web and got low cash or old computer then Linux is best to use.

Typical Linux users. Download, unpack, compile. Don't think, just follow. As sheeps. Then blame micro$oft (don't forget $) and never figure out why they have 1% of market share on Desktop (or not even 1). Allways have (meaningless) argument of zero malware on their beloved "OS", just in case somebody, sometimes, in this universe, will care.
hello im a linux user
and I feel alone
world must be broken fix ya?
linux is washing your mind out
e.g. it was a joke dude!
1? because as a Desktop OS it is a horrible s*** from a architectural standpoint (X Window system, monolithic kernel) down to a usability (KDE alpha quality or Gnome 1999 outlook) with applications support lacking one century behind what is already avaiable in windows world. Oh, that's kernel... nevermind though ;p
