I just wanted to hear more about your experience. I recently had a failed cycle (first one). Will be doing a second one in a couple of months.
[ Reply | Options ]Well I had three cycles before I had success. My RE told me that it is an average of three before you can expect to be successful but of course it just depends. I did a five day blast cycle and transferred 4 blast and I have one little boy - so obviously my embryo quality is not good. I just did 2 more IVFs in Atlanta but will head back to NYC to my old clinic for the next one. I recommend a blast cycle if you have more than 7 eggs. Did you stim well?

[ Reply | Options ]am told everything went well. though I did nearly hyper-stim towards the end. 9 eggs retrieved. 6 reached blast. 2 made it past PGD. lost the first one a week after transfer (bleeding/pain). HCG number was low and not increasing fast enough and so got a methotrexate shot to end it.
[ Reply | Options ]I did PGD and my own personal opinion is that is damaged my embryos. I'd consider just doing a blast cycle and forget the PGD unless you are doing it for a genetic problem...that is just my opinion. You produce enough eggs so it will most likely be a matter of time. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. Infertility and all its trappings is the most difficult thing I've ever done... My infertile friends don't really get it, sadly.

When did you move onto IVF? Been through 3 IUI cycles and now moving onto injectibles with IUI (used Femara before). Just wondering how long I have to keep going with this until they say 'okay...time for IVF'. Not that I want to have to go there, but I want a baby!!
[ Reply | Options ]we moved onto IVF right away b/c the issue was male factor due to a genetic issue, so IVF was/is the only route for us.
[ Reply | Options ]Are you trying a second round of IVF? I really hope it works for you. I'm keeping my hopes up that injectibles will do it for me. It seems like it is such a hurry up and wait process, it's frustrating!
[ Reply | Options ]thanks and yes we are doing a second round soon. I assume you have done a genetic test for both you and your DH to rule out other issues. In any case I also wish you the best of luck.
[ Reply | Options ]Actually, no, we haven't done any genetic testing. We got pg once and m/c at 13 weeks in June 2007. Been TTC for about 2 1/2 years now. DH has been tested and had good numbers for his sperm. I have a blocked right tube, which they think is scar tissue from the m/c (had lots of complications). The doctors have never brought up genetic testing. I'll have to ask my RE when I see her next...GL to you!!

When I ride in a taxi cab with my DC I:
- Use a carseat
- Buckle him/her in his/her own seat
- Hold him/her on my lap
- I'd never ride in a taxi with my DC, it's much too dangerous!
