John McCain presses President Obama on Afghanistan
Saturday, November 21, 2009 -
HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - U.S. Sen. John McCain leaned on the man who beat him last year to act on Afghanistan, predicting success in the war effort yesterday if President Obama makes a decision quickly to send the reinforcements his top commander wants.
White House aides said this week that a decision won’t be announced at least until after Thanksgiving, according to news reports. McCain, (R-Ariz.), told reporters yesterday at the Halifax International Security Forum the delay in reaching a decision on Afghan strategy is creating uncertainty within the military as the situation in Afghanistan continues to worsen.
