Oils Spills

Sharks at Oilers

WHY OILERS WON

Because they handled the Sharks as they did late in their 2006 playoff win when they swarmed them, played the body and played the opportunists. The tic-tac-toe third-period goal from Horcoff to Moreau to Pisani hammered home the Oilers' complete dominance.

VIDEO TRIBUTE

The Oilers saluted local referee Dan Marouelli for his final game here in a 28-year NHL career, and coach Pat Quinn also presented him with an Oilers jersey before the game. The players banged their sticks on the boards and Quinn and the other coaches applauded w hen he was singled out.

GAME STAR

No way you can single anybody out. This was the best game the Oilers have played all season long, as Zack Stortini had two dandy fights and rookie Devan Dubnyk came within three minutes of his first shutout.

SCRATCHES

OILERS-- Patrick O'Sullivan (torn fingernail)

SHARKS -- Jay Leach, Jed Ortmeyer

BY THE NUMBERS

100

Dustin Penner hit the milestone in goals with his first-period marker and Tom Gilbert reached the century mark in points with his assist on Fernando Pisani's rebound in the second frame.
