Finnish is more closely related to Hungarian than it is to the language of Finland's next-door-neighbor, Sweden. That's because Finnish is a member of the Finno-Ugric language family, whereas Swedish (and the other Scandinavian languages, and German, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, etc.) belong to the vast Indo-European family. This portion of the site is devoted to the Finnish language and its learning.
