IEEE Technical Activities is a major component of IEEE, and includes all programs of the IEEE Societies and Technical Councils, as well as programs of the Technical Activities Board (TAB) and the Technical Activities Department (TAD).

IEEE has created in Second Life® a virtual infrastructure and presence to support its staff, volunteer and member needs. IEEE Technical Activities Strategy Initiative

In 2007, IEEE Technical Activities (TA) Strategic Planning Committee considered several challenges and created a new and improved TA Strategic Plan.

This plan defines our core values, a vision for the future, and sets near and long term goals, including:

Increasing efforts to drive technology within IEEE
Improving value to Society members
Improving services and opportunities for young professionals within IEEE
Creating stronger corporate value and better services for practicing engineers
