Jira login broken except on front page

Description« Hide
Jira login seems to be somewhat broken. Sometimes you seem to be half logged in, with your name in the upper right corner and a login link next to it, when viewing a bug. But trying to log in does not actually work. It only works if you go to the front page and log in.

This eats up my time daily. Linked to interrnal issue.

Source of frustration for me too. Bugged the vendor about it, and will hopefully see a result soon

I have a feeling this is more widespread than the current # of votes indicates, perhaps ironically because this bug impedes Issue Tracker participation. :\

Thanks guys for quick attention.

in the meantime, here is a workaround for the login bug.

when you want to log in:
a. click "home" (top left corner)
b. then click Log in (top right corner)
c. enter your info and press the "go" button (submit, log in, whatever the button says)
d. THEN go BACK in your browser history to the page you wanted to view
e. refresh the page if neccessary.

The problem comes in, if you ACCIDENTALLY forget to do the above. if you log in using the links on the issue page, it seems you enter some sort of "Pseudo-logged state". The banner at the top thinks you are logged in, but the vote/edit panel (on the left) doesn't think you are. Clearing this can be a pain as well. The following is a reproduceable procedure for actually getting out of this bugged state, and actually logged in.

If you clicked one of the "Log In" links on an issue page and attempted to log in (doesn't matter which, both are busted)... the browser will display as if you had not logged in, even though you now are. to clear this:

a. click "home" (top left corner)
....................You will still not appear to be logged in.
b. then click Log in (top right corner)
....................the page will now actually log you in.
c. THEN go BACK in your browser history to the page you wanted to view
d. refresh the page if neccessary.

Thanks Winter, that workaround is similar to what I do regularly myself.

Fun! IF I COULD LOG INTO JIRA!!
There's a bug keeping people from beeing able to contribute...

Doesn't let me log in and tells me my "credentials" aren't sufficiant to log in.

It's the proposal to fix the jira login. After that, please do look around. There are so many wonderful issues there to vote on. And not enough people are doing so because of these login problems.

Good news, this appears to be resolved! Rob and I have tried it, both with success.
