New Yorkers will celebrate the Yankees' 27th World Series title with a parade Friday, following the traditional route up Broadway that long-time Yankees Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera know well.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. from Battery Park, go up the 'Canyon of Heroes' north to Chambers Street, and finish with a rally at City Hall Plaza.

Mayor Bloomberg will then present the team with the key to the city.

"Congratulations to the Yankees for bringing the world championship back home to New York City, where it belongs," Bloomberg said in a statement. "The Yankees have thrilled the City all year long with their come-from-behind victories and never-say-die attitude, and they did it again in the World Series."

The Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 Wednesday night to win the World Series in six games. Hideki Matsui drove in six runs in the clinching game and was named MVP.

The sidewalks lining the parade route along Broadway from the Battery to City Hall are open to all members of the public and the city will set up a large screen near City Hall Park for fans to watch the subsequent ceremony. The City will make a limited number of tickets available to the public for for the ceremony itself at City Hall Plaza. Ticket information will be available later in the day.

Friday's weather forecast is mostly sunny with a high of 49 degrees.
