£20k reward for WPC's killer

BRITISH detectives are sending thousands of WANTED posters to Pakistan - offering a £20,000 reward for the capture of a gangland mastermind hunted over the killing of WPC Sharon Beshenivsky.

Martial arts expert Piran Ditta Khan - a former takeaway boss suspected of plotting the armed robbery which lead to her death - is believed to be in hiding in a remote region in the northern part of Pakistan.

The £20,000 bounty for Khan's capture was announced yesterday - the anniversary of PC Beshenivsky's murder in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Three robbers recruited by Khan gunned down the 38-year-old WPC on her daughter Lydia's fourth birthday.

Sharon's widower Paul Beshenivsky, 46, welcomed the reward yesterday and urged anyone with information to tip off police.

Landscape gardener Paul, who lives near Keighley, West Yorkshire, said: "It is Lydia's eighth birthday today.

"She needs to know that all her mum's killers are behind bars...we all do.

"Sharon died on Lydia's fourth birthday and today she is eight. She wants to be happy because it's her birthday but she also knows the significance of this day and that it was also the day her mum died.

"She talks about her mum all the time she knows what happened.

"Like any little girl she wants to enjoy her birthday - but there is obviously deep sadness for her and all the family."

He praised the police investigation. Six men are already behind bars and Khan is the last man free.

He added: "It's four years down the road and the investigation is still going on. We want Khan caught so it gives some closure to us. But Sharon's death will never be forgotten - you never forget these things."

Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan, who has lead the inquiry, said: "I am as committed now as I was in November 2005 to see this inquiry through to a conclusion.

"It is extremely important we trace him and place him before the courts in Great Britain.

"Eventually, we will get him."
